Ria's Rooms (R & R)

Ria was tragically killed on Boxing Day 2014, this is when the tragedy began. Once Ria had passed, it was established Ria was an organ donator, this would mean there was an amount of time we had to wait for the hospital to find recipients for the organs Ria made available and where they would benefit others. Ria was amazing in her life, a very caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie and cousin, she was just as caring in her death to help others. While the hospital were making these arrangements, we, as a family had to wait in the Neuro ICU waiting room at St.Georges hospital which was made up of bare, plastic seats, nothing to do, nowhere to go and we were going through the hardest moment in our lives and felt numb. Others in the ward could see what we were going through and it was not easy for them to watch this awful scene unfold.

We have already set up the room mentioned at St Georges Hospital, Tooting, this room now has comfortable seating which you can sleep on if required, a kitchen area for tea and coffee, plug points for phones and iPads, table and seating to comfortably have something to eat, proper lighting so you can dim for young children to be able to sleep, also a TV as a distraction for families whilst occupied, very private for all families to be able to function in some way while dealing with such a difficult time.

"We would like to continue to raise more money to help fund other rooms in hospitals local to us, to be able to have a Ria's Room (R&R Rest and Recuperation). Our family thanks you for any support that you give us towards this project … Thanks"
